Lily
The Newport Flower Show of 2009 brought an exceptional group of flower and plant specimens. This pink lily caught my eye. I was amazed at the extreme intensity of the pink hues in the petals. The gradation between the various shades of color was perfection.
Focusing can be an issue when you are this close. I choose to focus on the stamens which seem to work quite well in this composition. I was also pleased at how the texture of the petals was really evident in the final print. As a bonus, the pollen grains seem to be quite clear with a lot of detail.
