Covered Bridge

For many years now, I try to go leaf peeping in the Northeast. One of my favorite areas to view the fall color is in New Hampshire near just about anywhere near the White Mountains. I really like to tour around Conway and North Conway.

Not only are they idyllic New England towns, but there seems to always be something interesting around the next corner or bend in the road. On one trip years ago, I came across this covered bridge. The colors were amazing to me. I really liked how the orange leaves in foreground seem to jump off the page.

I’ll continue to explore the area to find hidden treasures that I may have missed in previous visits.

Red Maple New Hampshire

Red maple colors in New Hampshire during the fall color season are unsurpassed in my opinion. If you can catch them just right, the colors seem to jump right into your eyes.

I really love red maple trees especially during the fall color season here in New England. I never seem to get enough of them!

Rocky Gorge Bridge

Rocky Gorge along the Kancamagus Highway is a spectacular place with many inspiring views. I’ve always loved this bridge, so I decided to focus more on the bridge than the gorge in this photo. I find the stone around the bridge rich in texture and a nice complement to the man-made structure.

Red Maple

I grew up in Louisiana, so I didn’t get to experience the full fall season that more northerly states do. My first experience a number of years ago was a sensory overload. The colors in the Northeast are stunning. I especially like the White Mountain area of northern New Hampshire.

When the conditions are right, in other words just the right amount of moisture and cool temperatures, the deciduous forests in the region literally burst into a myriad of colors. My favorite though is the rich vibrant reds of the Red Maple.

I found this lovely specimen along the Kancamagus Highway one lovely fall morning in 2007.
