Yosemite Falls during the spring snow melt is awe inspiring. You can hear the roar of the falls from quite a distance. I love to just sit and watch water pour down the granite walls of the valley.

I find my trips to Yosemite Valley to be therapeutic and the effect seems to last for quite some time.

My three week vacation to Australia with my sister is probably the best vacation and trip I’ve experienced. We drove over 2700 miles round trip between Sydney and Adelaide.

On our long road trip we traversed the Great Ocean Road which lies between Melbourne and Adelaide. The scenery was breathtaking with towering cliffs dropping to the blue green waters of the Southern Ocean.

London Bridge formed a complete arch until 1990 when the middle section collapsed into the ocean stranding a few hikers at the end. The day we were there was beautiful. The light was just right to capture the texture of the sand, the layers in the rock and the stunning blues and greens of the ocean.

My daughter and I love to explore the many diverse geographic areas of northern California. In 2008 we did an excellent tour of the coastline above Arcata, CA.

While walking along the beach in Trinidad, we happened about this immense log sticking out of the coarse beach sand. How did it get here; whether by natural processes or by some unknown person? It seemed to have some hidden purpose or meaning that was just a little bit out of our reach.

I loved the stark contrast of the stately monolithic nature of this log and the rolling, frenetic waves crashing into the beach close by. The vertical log also hinted at the tall vertical trees seen in the background.

Cook’s Meadow is a popular place for viewing Yosemite Falls, which is the 5th tallest waterfall in the world. The tree in the foreground has been dead for a long time. It is a favorite place for bird watchers to spot woodpeckers and other birds of the valley.

I love this tree because it gives a great perspective to the distant falls in the background. Most importantly, it’s a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the beauty of nature.

I had the opportunity and fortune to live in the U.K. for more than a year. I lived in a little village called Rickmansworth which is slightly northwest of London, about 45 minutes by train.

My flat was near the Batchwork Locks which is part of a canal system that traverses most of the United Kingdom. The water at this location was typically muddy, dirty and quite unattractive. I would walk by this place several times a week.

On my way home from work one day, I passed by the Locks and had a very strong sense to quickly get my camera and come back to this location. The feeling was so strong it almost put me into a panic. I returned to the Locks in about 10 minutes.

As I approached the locks, the clouds in the west parted slightly and the sun poured down. In that moment everything I had seen here before was transformed before my eyes. I started taking one photo after another. This is one of the best.

A friend of mine that lives near there, still to this day, thinks I’m not telling the truth about where I took this photo. In all his years he has never seen the light or the water look this way at the Locks.
